All-County Auditions (Instr. & Vocal)
The All-County audition process provides an opportunity for students to prepare and perform a solo for a judge. Students receive feedback in a positive and supportive atmosphere to help improve their performance skills.
An All-County audition is required in order to be considered for an honors ensemble.

Solo and Ensemble Selections
All solos and ensembles must be listed in the current NYSSMA Manual Edition XXXIII (effective July 1, 2022). Photocopied music is strictly prohibited. Only valid originals may be used for auditions. Students must provide a judge's copy (a piano accompaniment which shows the solo line is acceptable). Please write in all measure numbers.
Online Registration
You must be registered by your school’s music teacher. Students, parents and private teachers are NOT permitted to access the online registration system. Registration closes promptly on Oct. 25th for both vocal and instrumental auditions. There will be no exceptions.
Audition Fee
There is a $15 fee for level 1-4 auditions and a $20 for level 5-6. Fees are collected through each school and submitted in one payment to the NCMEA treasurer. Audition schedules will not be available to teachers until their registration fees have been paid.
Dress
While there is no specific dress code for auditions, it is highly recommended that students dress nicely. Formal wear such as dress pants, button down shirts, ties, dresses, skirts, and blouses are highly encouraged for the auditions.
Playing Permits
All playing permits will be generated by the online registration system. Teachers must print all playing permits once given approval by the registration administrator.
